I grew up in Toronto, Ontario in a home that was more survival mode than safe haven. My parents were divorced, both struggling with alcohol, and mental health support wasn't something our household talked about — back then it was seen as weakness, not wisdom. I learned early how to keep going without a roadmap.

The year before my daughter was born, I lost my childhood best friend to suicide. That loss cracked something open in me. When I found out I was pregnant, I made a quiet, fierce promise to myself: she would always know she was supported, she would always have a soft place to land. I gave her my best friend's name and carried that love forward.

Three months after she was born, I became a widow. I was suddenly a single mother planning a funeral with a newborn in my arms and very little support around me. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life — but it was also the moment I understood, bone-deep, what it means to need community and come up empty.

The years that followed were layered with challenge. My daughter had surgery at Sick Kids when she was just 16 months old. Then the pandemic hit. During lockdowns I experienced domestic violence, filed a police report, and faced the added weight of losing friends and being judged instead of supported. I started film school in 2021, driven by purpose, but between bills and childcare I was stretched past my limit. When I made the hard decision to have my daughter stay with family while I stabilized, I was met with criticism and betrayal instead of understanding. Things didn't go as hoped, and in the summer of 2024, she was removed from that situation — traumatically.

Today, in 2026, I'm living with my daughter, my father, and our two dogs in a two-bedroom condo. My dad was diagnosed with dementia last year, and I help with his daily care. My life is still full — full of responsibility, full of love, full of work. And I wouldn't trade the clarity it's given me.

Every single chapter of my story pointed to the same gap: women navigating impossible circumstances with no one in their corner. Not because the support doesn't exist — but because there was no trusted place to find it, no community built around safety, honesty, and real sisterhood. That's why I built this.

Synergistic Sisterhood isn't born from a business idea. It's born from lived experience — and the belief that every woman deserves what I was searching for.

"The women who walked through fire didn't do it alone. They reached back and pulled others through with them."
