Anxiety is eating me alive lately — anyone else?

I don't know if it's the season or what but my anxiety has been through the roof. Can't sleep, constant dread, snapping at my kids. I'm already in therapy but it's not enough right now. What do you all do to get through bad patches?

Honest question — how do you afford EVERYTHING on one income?

Daycare alone is $1,600/month. Rent. Food. Car insurance. I literally don't know how other single moms do it. I make decent money but I'm drowning. Any tips, programs I don't know about, anything?

Looking for a doula in the Toronto area

I'm 22 weeks pregnant, first baby, going it alone. My family isn't supportive and I really want someone in that room with me. Does anyone know a doula who works on a sliding scale? Insurance doesn't cover it and I can't afford full price.

Anyone else raised by a narcissist? Long post warning.

Growing up I thought my mom was just strict. It took until I was 32 and in therapy to understand what actually happened in that house. Now I'm navigating how to have a relationship with her while protecting my own peace. Would love to connect with others who get it.

Finally left — I just need someone to know

After 4 years I finally left. I have nothing but a bag of clothes and my daughter. We're at a shelter right now. I'm terrified and also weirdly at peace? I don't really need advice, I just needed to say it out loud somewhere safe. Thank you for existing, SSH.

I started my natural hair brand and I'm SCARED

Officially launched my Shopify store last week. Did $340 in sales the first 3 days and I literally cried. But now I'm terrified to run out of stock or mess up an order. Any entrepreneurs in here who can relate to the fear-meets-excitement thing?

The mental load of being a woman is EXHAUSTING

Dentist appointments, permission slips, birthday gifts, dinner, laundry, work deadlines, mom guilt, self-care you never have time for, remembering everyone's everything. And then people ask why you seem tired. Anyone else just need to scream?

Leaving a toxic job vs. staying for the money — experiences?

I've been at a company for 3 years and my mental health has tanked because of a micromanaging, sexist boss. But the salary is good and I have kids to feed. How did you all make this call? Did you regret leaving? Did you regret staying?

How do you explain a toxic relationship to your kids?

My 8-year-old has been asking why daddy doesn't live with us anymore. I've been trying to protect her from the truth but also not lie. Anyone been through this? What did you say? I'm struggling so much with finding the right words.

CPS showed up at my door — what do I do?

I opened the door and there were two CPS workers. My neighbor must have called. My house is clean, my kids are fine, we've been going through a rough patch financially but nothing dangerous. I panicked and let them in. What are my rights going forward? Please help.

Book recommendations that actually helped you heal?

I'm in a rebuilding phase of life. Therapy, journaling, the whole thing. But I want books too. Not toxic positivity stuff — real, raw books about women healing and finding themselves. What changed your life?

Just got my GED at 38 - never too late!

I dropped out at 16 when I got pregnant. I always thought it was too late for me. Started studying in January, passed my GED exam last week. Next step is community college in the fall. If I can do it, you can too.

Anyone else building their credit from scratch?

After leaving my marriage I had literally zero credit history since everything was in his name. I started 8 months ago with a secured card. Just hit a 680 score! Slow progress but wanted to share the win.

Meditation changed my life - here's how I started

I used to think meditation was not for me. Too busy, too anxious, too much going on. Then I tried the 5-minute daily practice and stuck with it for 3 months. Here's what actually worked for me as a skeptic...

Single mom side hustle ideas that actually work?

I work full time but it's barely enough with two kids. I've tried a few things that flopped. Looking for realistic side hustles for someone with limited time but decent organizational skills. What has actually worked for you?

Finally got my own apartment after 6 months in a shelter

I just signed my lease yesterday and I'm still shaking. After everything I went through, I finally have a safe space for me and my daughter. This community kept me sane during some really dark months. Thank you all 💕

Support group for survivors of narcissistic abuse?

Looking for others who understand what it's like recovering from a relationship with a narcissist. The gaslighting, the isolation, the slow rebuild of self-worth. Would love to connect with women who get it.
